Mobile phone scams are on the rise so its best to be informed

Lately ive been getting calls from lots of different numbers claiming that ive won this and that. It might be a sum of money or a holiday for example.

Let me tell you now that just answering a phone call from a scam company can be all you need to do. Sometimes just answering a call from one of these scams can opt you in to a contract of some sort where you will be charged for something from time to time without your consent. Many people are being trapped into such scams with their mobile phone.

Another method some scammers are using of late is where they will call many phone numbers for a second or two then hang up. Why would they be doing this? Because they expect you to call them back. Big problem, when you call them back you will be paying a high charge call rate or be signed up to something automatically.

What to do

Remember your friend that always said if its important they will call back. Well that's right, leave it because if its someone you know and its important they will call back. So only call numbers you know because heres the scary part. If the scam is originating from outside your country then your country has no ruling over it. That's right, your country has to sit there and take it from the scam company. Ofcourse your country can contact the originating country and request them to look into it but that's all they can do.

So remember don't reply to missed calls unless your worried that its important and keep in mind it may be a scam.
