Raising and breeding budgies
Raising and breeding budgies is very simple, not hard at all.For those of you who like having low maintenance pets budgies are the way to go. Coming in at about $5 a week for a single budgie to live off. First of all we all know you need some room not a shoe box size cage that's just cruel.
Ok so Having enough room to move and escape from prying eyes is the first thing you cant really expect much from two budgie's in a small pet sized cage along the breeding lines. Having somewhere to hide and escape will play big roles in the success of breeding.
Establishing a secure and cosy hideaway Breeding boxes are available from most good pet shops, if not you can make your own. All they are is a small box big enough for two adult budgies fit fairly cosy. A small entrance and non see through walls are great. Six walls i mean, no open roofs or anything like that. Carve a little grove in the bottom of the box to prevent the eggs from rolling.
Pine nesting material is available from most pet shops. Just place a handful in the cage not the box, you want them to do the work. Don't handle the nesting material as your sent may discourage the birds from having anything to do with it. Shade is a must, filtered light is recommended as you don't want pure shade. This can lead o low immune systems from lack of sun. Of course you know too much sun will kill them. Make sure the box is high up in the cage and make sure the cage isn't near loud noise constantly.
Don't touch the eggs as the parents will probably kill them after you do. Happy budgie breeding people.
