HTC Explorer Early Specs Aka Htc Pico

21 Sep 11

Another leaked phone from htc comes the HTC Explorer (pico) htc explorer aka htc pico www.techagesite.com

The explorer comes in at the budget end of htc's lineup of phones but does that make it a undesirable phone lacking in modern handset features?

Lets take a look

The explorer is made of a rubber body which makes it more resistant the everyday bumps and drops, hence the name explorer. This doesn't mean you should put the handset to the test by hitting it 40 yards with your nine iron, don't think htc's warranty covers that one.

only confirmed specs so far

  • Will be running Android Gingerbread
  • HTC Sense UI
  • 600MHz processor
  • The touchscreen is 3.2-inches
  • 5-megapixel camera
  • data control app

As ive already said its one of htc's affordable mobile phone handsets. Many upper and mid priced phones sport a dual core processor, The htc explorers 600mhz processor isn't a shock to me as it isn't an expensive handset.

The 5 megapixel camera is standard on most lower and mid range phones, therefore its no surprise the explorer has this technologically dated camera going on. That's not to say you cant get some amazing shots of a 5mp camera, we will have to wait and see how the camera performs once its released.

Now here's a handy feature, a data control cap. What's that i hear you ask? Its something many phones out there should come with standard but dont. Its an application built in that allows you to set a limit on how much internet you use on the explorer, so you wont over spend on your credit of plan.

3.2 inch touch screens are fading out as the standard size when it comes to touch UI phones. Don't expect a whopping amount of screen space going on there.

In Summery

At the end of the day the htc explorer is designed with people in mind who are clumsy, work labor jobs or anything other that involves your poor phone taking a bump, dint, drop or scratch. If this sounds like you and you don't expect your phone to cook and wash your dishes then keep an eye out for it in the UK from November onwards in black or blue.

HTC will hold an event in London on 6 October, you will most likely hear more on the explorer then
