The
Motorola MC75 Review, Specifications And Pictures
For
companies looking for a strong, fairly up to date and safe mobile phone
for field work, the Motorola MC75 should be the one. The first thing
that gets you is the price, coming in at a eyebrow raising price of
AU$3228.50. First impressions say this phone has got it all but although
its quite impressive, it does lack a few enhancements of the modern day
mobile phone.
The
Motorola MC75 weighs 3 times an Iphone and is 4 times its size coming in
at 422g so you will need deep, wide and strong pockets.

Battery
is a 3600mAh and an upgrade can be purchased at 4800mAh, the first only
lasting about 3 days. The MC75 comes with a few power saving features,
one being the screen shuts off after a certain time with no action but a
battery of such size (small laptop) could last longer.
Something very strange is that Motorola has decided to shove in a USB
1.1 instead of a USB 2.0 and you cannot charge the phone via it. I
really see no point of having a slower transfer speed via USB, maybe it
was a space issue lol.
A
strapped on stylus held by elastic is included which leads me to think
the following. If you have an absolute monster of a phone, surely you
can create a little internal home for Mr Stylus right? A barcode reader
is located at the top of the phone and on the side is a volume control
button, allowing you to change between vibrate and silent. However, the
vibration alert is quite hmmm..low.
Included is a waterproof headphone jack but its only a 2.5mm not the
standard 3.5. This means you can use the headphones made for the device
or purchase a cheaper pair and use a 3.5mm adapter.
Expandable memory is in the form of a Micro SD and allows for files to
be encrypted on the SD card, not a new feature but definitely impressive
none the less. You will however need to unscrew a panel to access it.
The
Motorola MC75 comes with a very hard to find 2mpx camera which for
security purposes can be disabled HMM. The charging and PC connectivity
slot and cable are one in the same so break it and im sure its gonna set
you back some hard earned money.
The
tech specs are ok. coming in with a 256MB ROM, 128MB of RAM and a
Marvell XScale PXA270 processor at 624 MHz. With a boosted CPU it allows
for standard mobile applications to run at a nice speed. The OS consists
of Windows Mobile 6.0, which appears to be becoming more popular.
If your
after a beautiful screen resolution, than the Motorola MC75 comes in at
640x480 WHOA!. Think the same size as the Apple Iphone screen (3.5
inches) but with twice the resolution and pretty sweet. As you can tell
the MC75 is about safety and toughness and that’s why the screen resides
a little lower than the frame around it. I still don’t see how that’s
going to stop your keys from scratching the screen but hay, some
secureness is provided.

Motorola have crammed in a pretty nice GPS and flight planning and
mapping software for pilots.
Call
quality is nice, that’s all I have on that one lol.
Ethernet can be accessed via a cradle that is included and can be synced
over Ethernet, not for PoE.
An IP54
certification states that water splashes and dust will not harm the
device however I would not advise taking it into the shower with you lol.
Its sort of drop proof and claims that a 1.5 meter drop on concrete
flooring wont harm the MC75.
We have
lift off lol, Moto decided to include Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11(a,
b and g). I almost thought that Bluetooth 1.0 was on the table lol.
The
MC75 comes in 4 different models. This model supporting HSDPA, 3G, CDMA
and EVDO support for international use.
The
MC75 comes with added security, one being WiFi security. Made up of WEP
and WPA2 and supports PEAP, TTLS and EAP authentication.
Also
available as an add on is an attachable magnetic stripe reader that
slots onto the base of the MC75. You can also purchase a vehicle cradle
and a four slot and single.
At the
end of the day the Motorola MC75 is very impressive, strong, full of
features, add ons and secure.
